Description
Antique 18th Century Swiss highly rare & decorative 18k vari-coloured gold, hand painted enamel and diamond-set, open face verge watch with chatelaine. Gilt-finished verge movement, chain fusée, the removable watch case centred with a hand painted miniature of a young lady, chased vari-coloured gold and diamond-set floral decoration in high relief, diamond set push button. The watch with a white enamel dial, Roman numerals, outer Arabic five minute divisions, surrounded by old cut diamond boarder.
Vari-coloured gold and diamond châtelaine decorated with a painted enamel plaques depicting portraits of a ladies, suspending a later key and a safety pin, hinged clip to the reverse, movement signed J S Patron, Geneve and numbered no 6038, made circa 1770, chatelaine hallmarked with French 18k gold guarantee mark (eagle head), Makers mark A.P (unknown to me), watched has been recently serviced and is fully working, comes in the original case
