Description
A Victorian garnet and diamond snake necklace, with old-cut and rose-cut diamonds, in a floral design, in silver settings, on a cabochon-cut garnet, forming the head, with a diamond set heart shaped garnet pendant, hanging from the open mouth, with a tapering, articulated scale link body and an engraved tail end loop, mounted in gold, circa 1860. In Victorian symbolism the snake biting its tail represented eternal love. In a re-fitted antique box.
