Description

A late 18th Century English verge in a diamond and pearls set gold and enamel case with matching chatelaine. Full plate fire gilt fusee movement. Pierced and engraved masked cock, large diamond endstone. Engraved plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Winding through the white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, gold hands. Fine gold consular case, translucent dark blue enamel over an engine turned ground with a white enamel border. The bezel and back both set with a single row of split pearls. Applied white metal decoration on the back set with diamonds. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with gold and champleve enamel, an oval of split pearls in the centre. One side supports the watch on a short chain of diamond shaped gold and enamel links flanked by two delicate gold chains. Spring clip with threaded safety collar. The other side of the clip a matching chain with two gold and enamel pearl set oval cartouches supports the accessories. Two chains with small square gold and enamel link terminate with a gold and enamel key and seal bearing the bust of a bearded man. Two further delicate gold chains bear gold and enamel tassels. Fitted in an unusual shaped red morocco covered case.

A fine and attractive English chatelaine with original case.
