Description

An excellent example of a premium quality Victorian silver mount claret jug.

The spherical crystal body, most likely made by Thomas Webb, has been made with the "Hobnail" cut design. The body has been mounted in sterling silver with the silver following the classic Dr Christopher Dresser plain form design. The silver lid of the mount is fully hallmarked for Heath & Middleton, of Hukin Heath fame.

Unboxed.

Please see above for quantity available. Price is per piece.

Markings: The silver collar is fully hallmarked and dated London 1897. The lid has the sponsor's mark, date and lion passant.

Size: Measures 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) tall.

Condition: The silver is in excellent condition. The silver shows no splits or damage. There are no monograms or erasures. The lid sits flush to the body. Main hallmarks are rubbed but still very legible. The glass is not cloudy or stained, but the base does have overall scratches from sitting on a surface for the last 120+ years. The cut pattern is in fair to good condition, with a few knocks, which are hidden in this most intricate design and not overly noticeable, and then only on close inspection. We've included an image of the worst affected area. Please see images above.
