Description
An excellent example of a premium quality Victorian silver mounted claret jug.
The crystal body, made by Stevens & Williams made using the "Jewelled" glass technique, comprising of hundreds of trapped air bubbles within the ribbed body. It's mounted in sterling silver with the silver following a classical design with anthemion thumb lever. This mount further embellished with a sterling silver hallmarked finial, following the general floral theme.
The silver lid of the mount is fully hallmarked for Horace Woodward & Co (Edgar Finley & Hugh Taylor), being SFNT within a shield, the maker's mark on the main mount is rubbed as per images above.

Markings: The silver collar and lid is fully hallmarked. Dated London 1888. The crystal base shows the registered design number 551693.
Size: Measures 8 1/2" (21.5 cm) tall.
Condition: The jug is in excellent condition. The silver shows no splits or damage. There are no monograms or erasures. The glass is not cloudy or stained and only has one of the air bubbles having burst. Hallmark is rubbed. Please see images above.
