An excellent example of a pretty antique sterling silver Christening mug.
This is finely engraved mug has the sponsor's mark of Robert Harper.
The gently tapering shaped mug features four circular leaf panels, two of which are profusely and completely engraved in a foliate style. There is a blank panel holding the impressively formed S shaped handle, and a blank panel to the front, ready to support an engraving if so desired. The decoration surrounded by fine decorative panels. Has a beaded edge to both the top of the mug and around the base.
The interior of the mug has been freshly gilded.
Weighs 144 grams.
This piece has been professionally polished and regilded. The mug holds liquid and does not leak. There is evidence of a very small repair next to the top of the handle, although it's been extremely well done and only visible on close inspection. Please see images above.
