Description
A fine pair of 18ct Yellow Gold Oval Cuff Links, hand engraved "Gay George" & "Tommy" to one, and "Gay George" & "Peter" to the other. London Hallmarks for 1981. Makers Marks Ramsden & Roed Ltd., operational in London since the 1790's.
Original Box by Armour Winston, Burlington Arcade, London. Estd. 1953
Gay George was a favourite racehorse (hurdles), of Andrew, the 11th Duke of Devonshire (1920 - 2004). After this beautiful horses death in 1983, Her Grace the Duchess of Devonshire commissioned this set of cuff links to be engraved, acknowledging his stable hands Tommy Turley and Peter Payne.
Provenance: from the estate of Deborah, the late Duchess of Devonshire (1920 - 2014).
