Description
An elegant pair of antique French drop earrings in 18ct rose gold, each formed of a pear-shaped surmount set with a split pearl above an open teardrop-shaped drop, within which a second pearl is suspended to swing freely as they move. The warm, rosy gold is finely worked throughout with engraved and beaded detailing in the Etruscan-revival taste, giving the earrings a lovely depth of craftsmanship for their delicate scale.
Long, graceful drops such as these were the height of elegance around the turn of the twentieth century, and the lever-back fittings are characteristic of fine Continental work of the period. Light and beautifully articulated, they move and catch the light with every turn of the head — a genuinely refined and wearable antique pair.
