Description
A wonderful early 20th-century Ceylon sapphire and diamond cluster ring, circa 1910, set in 18ct yellow gold and platinum. At its centre is a beautiful cushion mixed-cut natural Ceylon sapphire weighing approximately 3.70 carats, of a rich blue colour and lightly included clarity, measuring 9.10 x 7.81 x 5.42mm. The sapphire is surrounded by a sparkling cluster of twenty-seven old European and rose-cut diamonds, totalling approximately 1.60 carats, G–H colour and VS1–SI1 clarity.
The sapphire is accompanied by a WGI certificate confirming it to be of Sri Lankan (Ceylon) origin, with no indication of treatment.
The head of the ring measures 1.7cm from north to south
