Dorrie Nossiter Garnet & Turquoise Dress Clips | Art Deco | c.1930s
Dorrie Nossiter Garnet & Turquoise Dress Clips | Art Deco | c.1930s
POA
Description
A rare and striking pair of Art Deco dress clips by pioneering British jeweller Dorrie Nossiter, celebrated for her opulent designs and fearless use of colour.
Crafted in the 1930s, these sculptural floral bursts are set in silver with approx. 10 carats of rich almandine garnets and vibrant cabochon turquoise - arranged in Nossiter’s signature layered construction. Each clip measures c. 4cm across and features a strong reverse fitting for secure wear.
Originally worn by icons like Joan Crawford and Marlene Dietrich, dress clips were the glamorous, convertible accessory of the era - clipped to necklines, lapels, belts or cuffs.
Today, they’re equally versatile: style as a pair or asymmetrically on collars, scarves, ribbons or hats - or mount on a frame to wear as a single brooch.
Glamorous, eccentric and unmistakably modern - these are miniature works of art from a visionary designer.
Available exclusively at ELTONS, Grays Antique Market, Mayfair, London.
