Description
A rare and unusually tender 19th-century ring, set in 15ct gold with an oval carnelian intaglio depicting a small dog resting on a bed.
Above it, the French motto “L’Amitié et Fidèle”, Faithful Friendship, is carved in delicate serif lettering.
This was almost certainly made to honour a beloved pet, a private commission, not a commercial piece.
Likely carved in France, but set in Britain in the mid-19th century.
UK ring size P. Face of ring 1.5cm x 1.2cm. Excellent antique condition.
