Fine quality 19th century Japanese wood Okimono of Oni and Shoki (the demon & the demon slayer). Shoki & Oni were prominent folklore characters who grew out of the religious traditions of Shintoism and Buddhism in Japan. The well defined Okimono of fine patina depicts Shoki grappling with Oni. Meiji period circa 1880
