19th century Meissen figure from the Commedia dell’arte series originally commissioned by the Duke of Sachs-Weissenfels and executed by Kaendler in 1774. The series comprised 18 figures mostly based on engravings by François Joullain from Louis Riccoboni’s Histoire du theatre Italien. This figure depicts Pagliacco which was produced around 1890
