Description
A remarkable 18ct gold dragonfly ring set with plique-à-jour enamel wings in shades of green. The design is formed by two symmetrical dragonflies, each with diamond-set eyes, enclosing two navette-shaped opals with blue and green play of colour at the centre. The ring bears a French poinçon for 18 carat gold and a maker’s mark to the shank.
Plique-à-jour is an enamelling technique in which the enamel is applied within open cells without a metal backing, allowing light to pass through the enamel and create a translucent effect similar to stained glass.
