Description

An exceptional rare and highly sculptural hammered silver neck collar by the Swedish jewellery designer Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe (1927–2004), signed TORUN and executed during, or closely associated with, her celebrated workshop period in Biot, France.

The broad hammered silver collar is secured with Torun’s characteristic handcrafted wire clasp and suspends a beautifully smooth natural beach stone in a minimalist silver mount. The design perfectly encapsulates Torun’s philosophy of elevating natural materials through simple, organic forms, allowing the pebble itself to become the focal point of the piece.

During the late 1950s and early 1960s, Torun created some of her most important work from her studio in Biot, where she challenged conventional ideas of luxury by combining precious metals with found natural objects. Jewellery from this period is widely regarded as among the finest examples of post-war Scandinavian modernist design.
Signed TORUN with French assay marks.
Vivianna Torun’s work is represented in major museum collections worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

I have a large selection of rare Biot Torun creations at my shop in Grays.
