What a story and province this watch has, an Air King from the 60's like no other. We are not going say super rare, unique or find me another etc... all the usual cliches but what we will say is this watch a special history and has clearly been well loved and looked after.
Rolex Air king 5500 Super Precision stamped dial. A wonderful patina to the cream / ivory coloured dial with gold coloured hands and hour markers a watch that on thew whole has been left unpolished and untouched.
34mm stainless steel case fitted to a newer Rolex bracelet purchased in 2019 from a Rolex approved retailer at a cost of £800.00 however the original riveted bracelet accompanies the watch which on the whole is in excellent condition. We have given both a deep clean but left unpolished.
Now this is where it gets interesting, a note comes with the watch from the original owner. A Colonel based in the British Military hospital in Cyprus in 1966, confirming he brought the watch from the RAF shop at the Libya RAF base in 1964 and owned ever since.
Furthermore the original warranty papers confirm this with the date, serial number and RAF stamp all confirming the note is correct. We also have an original swing tag stamped, a Roles service note and even some hand written instructions. Outer and inner box included too.....
Operating near perfect at +5 second's per day! Shows how well this watch has been looked after.
Condition - As good as you will find one a watch from the 60's without doubt
