Description
A charming High Carat Yellow Gold and Platinum (tested) Embossed Round Locket set with numerous Diamonds and Rubies.
The locket is hinged and opens to reveal two frames (no glass).
The face is embossed with five "Platinum" flowers; three set with a Ruby and two set with a Diamond which sit above a "Swallow in Flight" set with (8) Diamonds and a single Ruby carrying an engraved Ribbon supporting a Diamond set Heart.
The diamonds are in full "Old Cut" and "Rose Cuts". The Rubies (tested) are in "Old Cuts". The lockets circumference measures 2.5 cm. and the back is plain.
The Victorians often used a lot of symbolism in their jewellery, the Swallow is symbolic of being apart, perhaps overseas, the flowers would represent tokens of Love and the Ruby Passion.
This wonderful locket would potentially have been a gift to a Sweetheart. There have been legends in the past were Swallows would lead ships safely home.
The Locket is attached with 15 carat gold (chain) tested stock number S4378
