Sold. A very fine Georgian Pinchbeck Chain Circa 1790, with later clasp.

Pinchbeck was invented in the early 18th Century by Dr Christopher Pinchbeck (died 1732), a London clock-and watch-maker. Much favoured by his coach-travelling clientele, who wanted to wear alternatives to Gold,it continued to be made (by his descendants), up until the 1830's
