A charming pair of Victorian earrings in 15ct gold, each formed as a domed rosette centred with a sapphire star-set into an incised six-point star, framed by fine rope-twist and beadwork borders in the Etruscan-revival taste. The soft, warm colour of the 15ct gold and the delicate hand-worked detailing give them real antique character, the small sapphires adding a quiet flash of blue at the centre.
15ct gold is a hallmark of quality Victorian jewellery — a standard used only until 1932, and richer in tone than later golds — and these are stamped accordingly. Light and comfortable on shepherd's hook fittings, they are a pretty and very wearable antique pair.
