Description
A charming pair of Victorian 15ct gold drop earrings, circa 1870, retaining their original mercury-gilded finish. Each earring is beautifully articulated, with a teardrop-shaped surmount and pendant drop framing an elegant amphora-shaped central section, richly embellished with applied gold decoration. The earrings are suspended from traditional shepherd’s hook fittings and have wonderful movement when worn. In lovely antique condition, with a tiny split to one of the lower teardrop sections, commensurate with age.
They measure 5.3cm in length including the shepherd’s hooks x 1.3cm at the widest point.
