Victorian Gold Pearl and Enamel Bracelet, Spectrum Antiques
Victorian Gold Pearl and Enamel Bracelet, Spectrum Antiques
£4,400.00
Description
A superb Victorian gold bracelet, its wide snake-link band centred on an elaborate quatrefoil plaque set with natural pearls in a crossed-ribbon design, each band picked out in vivid royal blue enamel. Further pearl-set enamel scrollwork decorates the shoulders, echoing the central motif and giving the whole piece a rich, considered symmetry. The natural pearls glow softly against the deep blue enamel and warm gold, a combination much loved in high Victorian jewellery for its striking contrast.
The bracelet closes with a box clasp and is struck with a design registration lozenge, the diamond-form mark used in England between 1842 and 1883 to record a design's registration with the Patent Office — placing this piece confidently within the Victorian period on the strength of a genuine documentary mark, rather than style alone. It's a substantial, beautifully made piece, equally suited to display or wear.
