A beautifully preserved Arts and Crafts brooch by Charles Horner, hallmarked for Chester, 1912 - a sought-after combination for collectors of early 20th-century British silver and enamel.
The brooch is formed as a stylised buckle - a popular motif symbolising strength and unity - rendered here as an open circle in sterling silver.
The surface is decorated with translucent turquoise enamel laid over engraved leafwork, a technique known as guilloché, which creates subtle shifts in tone and texture as it catches the light.
