A striking 1918 lynx & motto intaglio signet ring, finely engraved with a wild cat, appearing as a lynx, standing above the Latin motto “CAUTUSQUE VIGILANS”, meaning “cautious and watchful”. The finely detailed engraving depicts the animal in profile, with its raised ears, textured coat and long tail carefully worked into the substantial oval signet face. Crafted in 18ct gold and hallmarked for London 1918, with the maker’s mark B&Co and product number, the ring has broad, gently tapering shoulders and a beautifully substantial traditional signet form. The combination of the finely engraved wild cat and distinctive Latin motto gives this early 20th-century ring a particularly strong heraldic character. The ring weighs 8.3g and can be resized.
