Description

There’s a quiet magic to this necklace that photographs simply can’t capture.

Made in Germany in the 1920s by Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF), it’s strung with perfectly matched 6mm iridescent glass beads - each one softly glowing in shifting tones of gold, rose, lilac and copper.

The colours change with the light and with movement, giving the piece a sense of life that only becomes fully apparent when it’s worn.

Best known for their Art Nouveau silver and decorative objects, WMF also created a small collection of jewellery during this period - pieces like this, where elegant design met beautiful material.

The glass beads were likely sourced from Bohemian makers, whose craftsmanship was renowned for this kind of subtle, luminous finish.

At 40cm in length, it sits gently at the collarbone, catching the light with every turn of the head. It’s refined, wearable, and full of quiet joy, the kind of piece that becomes a favourite not just for how it looks, but for how it feels.

Available exclusively at ELTONS, Grays Antique Market, Mayfair, London.
