Description
An antique crescent moon brooch, the body is set with two rows of old mine-cut diamonds, graduating in size, weighing an estimated total of 4.00 carats, grain set in silver, with a plain inner curve and cut down set outer curve, with gold gallery work below, mounted in silver-upon-gold, with a removable pin and later roller catch fitting. The inner curve is numbered 2208, with scratched invoice number -/S2170, circa 1880. In Victorian symbolism the crescent or new moon represented a new relationship. Hopeful it will "wax" into matrimony.
