Description
An antique French diamond fringe drop tiara necklace, featuring a graduating fringe of alternating, old mine-cut diamond, grain set, trefoils and arrowheads, with round, old mine-cut diamonds below, in cut down settings, mounted on knife edges, with the centre five drops terminating with pear shaped diamonds, onto a backchain set with rose cut diamonds, in cut down settings, mounted in silver-upon-gold, with a gold box and tongue clasp, with French eagle head marks for 18 carat gold, circa 1860. Estimated total diamond weight 23.93 carats.
Originally designed as a tiara necklace, however the frame was lost in the mists of time. The screw holes for tiara fittings remain so a frame can be made, at the client's request, at an additional cost.
