A particularly beautiful antique saphiret graduated bead necklace, dating from circa 1880–1910, featuring individually faceted glass beads displaying the remarkable colour-changing effect for which Saphiret is so highly prized. The rare beads exhibit a wonderful combination of warm coppery pink and luminous blue, with flashes of turquoise becoming especially vibrant as they catch the light. Graduating gently in size towards the centre, the faceted beads create a beautifully balanced necklace, with the larger 13.mm central bead particularly showcasing the unusual optical qualities of this distinctive hightly sort after antique glass. Measuring 24 inches in length and finished with a circular spring-ring clasp, this is a striking example of late Victorian to Edwardian Saphiret jewellery, combining an elegant graduated design with exceptional flashes of colour.
