Chinese blue and white moulded tankard and cover, Kangxi (1662-1722), with metal mounts, the body decorated with sprays of peony, chrysanthemum and cherry blossom, the rim and lid with bands of scrollwork, footrim with band of stiff leaves, the handle with cloudscrolls

Height without mount: 15.8cm. (6 1/4in.)

Condition: Hair-line around base of handle

Provenance:

A very similar tankard, also with ormolu mounts, was donated by Sir Augustus Wollaston Franks to the British Museum (Franks.1582)
