It is composed of graduated opal beads with wonderful flashes of green and blue, interspersed with sparkling faceted rock crystal spacers. The beads are individually strung on contrasting green thread, a particularly charming detail that complements and enhances the natural play of colour within the opals. The necklace graduates towards the centre with larger opal beads, creating a beautifully balanced appearance when worn. To fasten there is a large circular opal clasp, set in silver and displaying its own attractive play of colour. The clasp is further secured with a safety catch, an appealing and practical period detail.
