Egyptian Revival Rock Crystal Stick Pin | Hand-Painted Sphinx & Pyramid Scene | English c.1905
Egyptian Revival Rock Crystal Stick Pin | Hand-Painted Sphinx & Pyramid Scene | English c.1905
POA
Description
A rare and finely detailed stick pin from the Edwardian era, made in Britain around 1905.
Set beneath a smooth dome of rock crystal, a miniature hand-painted scene unfolds: the Great Sphinx and pyramid rising from the desert.
The scene is reverse-painted directly onto the crystal in the style of Essex intaglios, giving it depth and atmosphere when viewed through the curved surface of the rock crystal.
The mount is 18ct gold, beautifully made and slender, with just enough substance to feel refined.
It’s a remarkable survivor, small, personal, and full of historical fascination, a product of the Egyptomania that swept Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Worn today, it can be styled with a crisp lapel, a silk scarf, or kept as a treasure in a collection - a wearable keepsake from a moment when the ancient world felt thrillingly new again.
