Description
Sophisticated Georg Adam Scheid Art Nouveau Silver Bracelet. An exceptional Art Nouveau silver and garnet bracelet by renowned Austrian designer Georg Adam Scheid, circa 1880, with G A S hallmark on the back. Crafted in richly detailed silver, the bracelet is formed from alternating openwork links combining flowing scrollwork with bold sculptural face motifs, accented throughout with deep red garnets. At the centre sits a dramatic high-relief portrait medallion depicting a Renaissance-style gentleman in a broad plumed hat, rendered with remarkable sculptural depth and expression. The medallion possesses the character of a miniature Renaissance portrait plaque, giving the bracelet an unusually artistic presence. The design beautifully reflects the artistic experimentation of the Austrian Vienna Secession and Neo-Renaissance Art Nouveau movement, where jewellery often blended mythology, historic revivalism and sculptural craftsmanship into highly individual wearable works of art. The oxidised silver finish enhances the depth and architectural quality of the bracelet, while the garnets add warmth and contrast against the cool silver tones. The bracelet features a hidden box clasp fastening. Bold, unusual and highly collectable, this bracelet wears as both a historic artistic object and a striking contemporary statement piece. The bracelet measures at 19.8cm long, the central piece has a diameter of 3.2cm.
