Description
Large Chinese famille-verte dish, Kangxi (1662-1722), decorated in the centre with a figurative scene of the Daoist dignitaries Shoulao, Fuxing and Luxing, the Three Star Gods, pictured with a boy attendant, a deer and a crane, in a rocky landscape scene beneath swirling clouds and pine trees, the rim decorated with a cellular border pattern of individual diapers and florettes against a red spotted ground interspersed by beribboned auspicious objects in shaped cartouches. Diameter: 14 7/8 in. (38 cm.); Condition: fritting to rim. The Three Star Gods are personified symbols of Good Fortune, Prosperity and Longevity.
