A beautiful late victorian amethyst, peridot & pearl pendant brooch, crafted in 18ct gold with an elaborate arrangement of colourful gemstones, delicate floral decoration and contrasting black enamel. At its centre sits a large, richly coloured oval faceted amethyst, surrounded by a decorative gold border and a circular framework of black enamel. The design is embellished with finely textured gold flowers set with lustrous pearls, interspersed with vibrant green peridots and smaller pearl accents. Suspended beneath are three graduated arrangements of twisted gold chains, decorated with further amethysts, pearls and elegant black enamelled pointed drops. The delicate movement of these hanging elements adds a particularly charming quality to the intricate design. Designed to be worn as either a pendant or a brooch, the piece retains both its suspension loop and brooch pin fitting. Weighing a substantial 20g and measures 3.7cm x 9.5cm, this is a wonderful example of late Victorian jewellery.
