Russian silver gild and champeve enamel pictorial cigarette case, Moscow, 1879 by Pavel Ovchinnikov.
Marked 91 for high grade silver with the maker’s mark ‘Ovchinnikov’ in Cyrillic.
The portrait on the lid is titled the ‘The Reverie’ which was an engraving by Paul Adolphe Rajon published in the rare ‘Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News’ December 1875.
