Description
A substantial Victorian chain in 15ct gold, built as a book chain: wide, flat plate links hinged like the leaves of a book, each framed between rounded open links. The plates have a soft satin finish against the polished frames, and the chain folds and moves with real weight and fluidity. It is a bold, architectural design, very much of its period, and at 14mm wide it makes a statement without any further ornament.
The chain was originally worn with a pendant threaded on it, which is no longer present, so it is offered here as a chain in its own right. At 18" it sits at the base of the neck and wears well alone. Authenticated by us.
