Description
A wonderful Victorian Memorial Triple Locket Pendant engraved with ‘3rd June 1912’ and ‘E.I’. Opening to reveal three separate compartments, one still retains its original pressed forget-me-not flower. The forget-me-not flower became one of the most enduring emblems of remembrance, expressing a promise that someone would never be forgotten. Beautifully crafted in 15ct gold, this unusual multi-compartment locket would once have held treasured photographs, locks of hair, dried flowers or other sentimental mementoes. Rich in sentiment and history, it is a rare example of early 20th-century mourning or remembrance jewellery, offering both beauty and an intimate glimpse into the past. During the Victorian and Edwardian eras, memorial jewellery played an important role in preserving the memory of loved ones. Inside and on the back of the locket is the hallmarks for 1902 Birmingham. The piece remains in great working order with its natural patina carrying the character of the locket and story of those who treasured it before. The piece weighs 8.8g and measures 2.3mm. The pendant does not come with a chain, a wide variety of chains are available upon request.
