Description
A Victorian opal crescent moon brooch, set with oval opal cabochons, graduating in size, with old mine-cut diamonds set between the outer edge of the opals, with a plain inner curve, with fleur-de-lys claws and crown claw outer curve, with a two row gallery bezel, mounted in gold, with a pin and hook catch fitting, circa 1880. In Victorian symbolism the crescent or new moon represented a new relationship. Hopeful it will "wax" into matrimony.
