Description

Made in the 1960s, likely in Kaliningrad - the heart of Soviet amber production - this bracelet is set with warm, honey-toned pieces of genuine Baltic amber, cut into bold geometric forms and linked with a double strand of 875-grade silver, the USSR’s official standard for fine silver.

It closes with its original box clasp, still secure more than 60 years on.

Stamped with the Soviet hallmark, a five-pointed star bearing the hammer and sickle, and the “875” silver purity mark, the bracelet also carries a workshop stamp from one of the Baltic state-run artels known for handcrafted amber jewellery.

This would have belonged to a woman of quiet status - educated, urban, and independent - with shelves of well-read books and a wardrobe of tailored wool dresses. She chose her pieces with care.

This bracelet would have been worn to concerts, cultural or family gatherings - occasions where taste spoke softly, and without scrutiny.

Amber to her, wasn’t just beautiful, it was cultural. A symbol of heritage and pride.

This bracelet would have been cherished, worn with purpose, and carefully kept, as it remains in excellent condition.
