A beautifully considered vintage classic, this Hermès Chaîne d’Ancre Passerelle ring dates to 1979 and is crafted in fully hallmarked 18k rose gold. Its distinctive openwork band pairs sculptural anchor-link motifs with smooth, polished borders, balancing a bold silhouette with an elegant sense of lightness.

The design belongs to one of Hermès’ most enduring jewellery traditions. Inspired by the anchor chains Robert Dumas observed along the Normandy coast in 1937, the Chaîne d’Ancre first appeared as a silver bracelet in 1938. Its maritime origins have since inspired generations of interpretations, becoming an unmistakable signature of the maison.

Here, the Passerelle design translates that heritage into a repeating pattern around the finger. Glimpses of skin beneath the openwork emphasise the flowing lines, while the warm blush of rose gold softens the geometric structure.
