Description

A fine William IV silver tankard by Charles Fox (II), London, 1830 of fluted baluster form chassed in high relief with flowers and foliage, on similarly decorated shaped spreading foot, the scroll handle applied with acanthus leaf below a foliate scroll-embellished chair-back thumb piece. Inscribed "Presented to Captain Benjamin Rowland commanding the ship Lowjee Family for his liberality and attention during the voyage from Bombay to Aden as a mark of respect." Followed by the names of 11 officers and their ranks who clubbed together to present the tankard.
