Notes:
17th and 18th century tin-glazed earthenware ceramics (faience) from Savona typically feature pierced openwork at the rim, and sketchy painted decoration of landscapes or animals in manganese or blue, as seen in this example. While distinctively Italian, the style and restrained colour scheme drew upon Chinese ceramics of the Transitional Period.
