Description
Chinese blue and white moulded bowl and saucer, Kangxi (1662-1722), the exterior of the bowl with two rows of petal-shaped cartouches containing sprays of peony and other flowers, the gently barbed rim with small flowerheads, the bowl interior with a geometric band to the rim and four peony sprays, the central roundel containing flowers and leafy fronds, the base with a solid lozenge within a double circle; the saucer with foliate rim and decorated to the centre with chrysanthemum and peony issuing from rockwork, the wide rim with two rows of radiating petal-shaped cartouches containing further flowers, the reverse with three floral sprays

Condition:
Rim frits and two firing faults to the saucer and one rim chip to teabowl
Notes:
The solid lozenge, or mirror, is one of the eight auspicious treasures ('babao') and represents conjugal happiness.
