Chinese lac burgauté lobed cup-stand, Kangxi (1662-1722), inlaid with mother-of-pearl, decorated with branches of flower blossoms and fruits.

Condition:
Shallow frits to rim, some cracking.
Notes:
Lac burgauté, an Asian technique of decorating lacquer ware with inlaid designs, dates back to the Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644), when it was known as lo tien. It was also popular in Japan, where it is referred to as aogai. The French name commonly used today derives from burgau (sea-ear, referring to the iridescent shell nacre of the abalone traditionally used) and laque (lacquer).
