A beautiful Edwardian Gold Demantoid Amethyst & Pearl Necklace, dating to circa 1905–1910 and wonderfully representative of the delicate jewellery of the period. Finely crafted in 15ct gold with a box clasp fastening, the intricate openwork design features flowing leaves, scrolls and floral forms, delicately accented with lustrous seed pearls. Three rich purple amethysts form the heart of the design, beautifully contrasted by vivid green demantoid garnets positioned throughout and suspended beneath. Demantoid is the highly prized green variety of andradite garnet, particularly admired in late Victorian and Edwardian jewellery for its intense colour and exceptional brilliance. Combined with the amethysts and pearls, the stones create a wonderfully distinctive jewel with all the elegance and craftsmanship associated with fine Edwardian jewellery. A particularly pretty and highly wearable antique necklace, full of colour, character and intricate period detail. On the back there is a 15ct stamp adn the piece weighs 11.3g.
