Hancocks of London Etruscan Revival Locket | 15ct Gold, Turquoise & Diamond | c.1880s
POA
Description
This detailed locket was made in England in the 1880s, crafted in 15 carat gold in the Etruscan Revival style that was popular in the late Victorian period.
At the centre is a raised dome set with cabochon turquoise, surrounded by two rings of matching turquoise and small rose-cut diamonds. The goldwork is finely done, with beading and granulation inspired by classical designs.
The back opens to hold a keepsake or miniature. The surface has aged well, with a soft patina that adds warmth to the gold.
It measures 2.6cm across and comes in its original fitted box from Hancocks of London, a respected jeweller known for royal commissions.
Chain not included.
