Pair of large Chinese famille rose jugs and covers, Qianlong (1736-95), each decorated to the body with floral sprays of peonies within a lambrequin border with a wide band of alternating pink and turquoise diaper to the rim interspersed by cartouches containing lotus, the spreading foot with foliate peony heads and further diaper-pattern band, the handle with floral detail in iron-red; the covers similarly decorated with sprays of peony and diaper band with cartouches containing lotus; surmounted with a chrysanthemum knop
