Description
A Victorian necklace in 9ct gold, hung with four graduated amethyst cabochons in rub-over settings. Two small round stones sit at the shoulders, a larger round one at the centre, and a generous oval drops below. Three tiny diamonds link the stones, one on each side of the centre and one above the drop. The foil backing gives the amethysts a deep, glowing violet, richest in the big oval, and the smooth domed cabochons catch the light softly rather than sparkling.
The stones hang from a fine trace chain at 18", with a 1.5" drop that sits at the collarbone. A closed back protects the foil, and as with all foil-backed stones it is best kept dry. A rich, wearable piece of Victorian colour. Authenticated by us.
