Description

Chinese blue and white bowl, Guangxu (1875-1908), decorated to the exterior with two ferocious scaly dragons, with five claws on each foot and large feathered manes, their long curving bodies writhing around the circumference of the bowl as they chase a flaming pearl amongst further flames and wisps of cloud, the foot encircled by a band of overlapping semicircles, the interior with two sets of double blue lines and the central roundel containing a further scaly dragon chasing the pearl amongst wisps of fire and cloud, the base with six-character Guangxu mark and of the period.

Very shallow chip to rim approx. 4.5cm. (1 3/4in.) wide
