Description
Pair of Chinese imari gin bottles, Kangxi (1662-1722), with later European mounts incorporating a porcelain moulded flowerhead, the bodies of square section form with opposing panels depicting floral sprays or a pagoda and pine tree in a riverscape, all within a scrolling flowerhead border, with floral sprays to the shoulder. Height of taller without cover: 8 in. (20 cm.); condition: some fritting to the edges, one with faint hairline to the rim, the other with a piece out of the rim restored with a chip and associated hairline. There is a similarly decorated pair in the collection of the National Trust, (Tatton Park, Cheshire) NT 1296830.
