French Love Bird Brooch - Saddingtons Jewellery Stand 375
French Love Bird Brooch - Saddingtons Jewellery Stand 375
£695.00
Description
A delightful French Love Bird Brooch, late Victorian to early Edwardian brooch, beautifully modelled as a pair of swallows in flight, each finely sculpted with exceptional feather detail in rich 18ct yellow gold. The birds are united by a delicate gold chain, from which two natural seed pearls gently suspend, symbolising the enduring bond between two lovers. Throughout the Victorian and Edwardian eras, swallows were treasured as emblems of love, loyalty and the promise of a safe return, making jewellery of this nature a deeply sentimental gift. Expertly crafted with remarkable attention to detail, the brooch captures the grace and movement of the birds while retaining an elegant lightness. Whether worn as a statement piece or added to a collection of fine antique jewellery, it remains a beautiful example of French craftsmanship from the turn of the twentieth century. On the back of the c scroll catch and the pin there are french eagle 18ct marks as well as a makers mark. The birds measure 2.1cm x 4.1cm.
